Peaceful Mind, Peaceful World

An alternative New Year’s Eve celebration

Join us for this special evening as we come together in spirit and mind to set a joyful and positive intention for the New Year. Gen Chokyan will guide us in meditation, share inspirational words of wisdom, and conclude with prayers to Buddha Avalokiteshvara.

Avalokiteshvara is an enlightened being who is a manifestation of all Buddhas’ compassion. By relying sincerely on Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion, and reciting his mantra with strong faith, temporarily we will improve our realizations of all the stages of the path, especially our realization of great compassion, and ultimately we will attain supreme Buddhahood in Avalokiteshvara’s Pure Land.

Traditionally, we would each get up to light a candle in the gompa. Since we can’t physically be together this year, you can do this at home and it will have the same effect. Prepare a candle and it will be indicated during the event at what moment we will all do this together.

Start the New Year with a peaceful, positive mind and a loving heart.

Everyone is welcome so invite your family and friends to enjoy this magical evening together!

This special event is led by Gen Kelsang Chokyan Buddhist monk and Resident Teacher at KMC New Mexico.
