Walk for World Peace

Join us for our annual Fall FUNdraiser to celebrate International Temples Day!

On the first Saturday in November, Kadampa Centers worldwide celebrate the International Temples Project (ITP). Special events are held at various Centers throughout the world to support the project through building Temples, meditation centers, and retreat centers worldwide. These Temples and centers are for everyone, Buddhist and non Buddhist. Prayers are made for the project to flourish and for World Peace to appear for everyone. >>Click here to learn more.

Enjoy a beautiful Fall day outdoors for a good cause.

In celebration of this day, we will be fundraising together, starting with an inspirational talk by our Resident Teacher, Gen Chokyan, followed by a meetup and walk around the beautiful North Domingo Baca Park, and ending with a social-distant picnic together. Every registrant will also receive a commemorative T-shirt, a beautiful design printed on a soft-style material, available in your choice of one of two colors. Make a day out of it—bring your family and friends, and pets too!

Collect sponsor donations from your family, friends, and co-workers.

Your registration donation is a big help, but it is also used to cover overhead costs for this event. Therefore, getting Sponsors is a way to make your donation even more powerful. After registration as a walker, simply point others to the same registration page. From there, they can donate to the event and enter your name as the walker they are sponsoring. The number of sponsors each registrant receives will be collected. And yes, there are prizes awarded for those who put in the most effort, i.e. get the most sponsors!

Even if you are not walking, you can still donate.

Every little bit helps. You can donate as a registrant, enjoy the talk, and pick up your T-shirt at the Center at a later time. You can also sponsor someone you know is walking. Either way, all proceeds go to the cause so that more beautiful Temples can be built and everyone may have the opportunity to solve their human problems and experience inner peace.

At 10am, Resident Teacher Gen Chokyan will give a short talk that will be streamed live through our YouTube channel (link to come). You can watch from the comfort of your home. Then, if you are planning to walk, head over to the park (details below) to meet for an 11am start time. Stay after the walk to enjoy a bring-your-own/social-distancing-picnic together.
